Writing 101: College Prep Writing, Grades 10-12
February 22; March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29; April 5, 12
8 class sessions, 1.5 hours per class (12 hours of instruction)

Course Description:
You are headed for college, but are you confident that you have the writing skills to be successful?
In this 8-week course, we will cover fundamental grammar, essay structure and ideas about how to sharpen your writing skills and prepare you for college level writing to ensure that when you walk into any college classroom, you know you can express your ideas to the best of your abilities. We will also cover tips about effective editing as well as research techniques and ways to incorporate your research into your writing effectively.
Instructor Biography:
Stephanie T. Keefer has a B.A. in Theater and an M.A. in English from U.C., Irvine, and is a fellow of the UCI Writing Project. She taught English and re-established the Theater Department at Santa Ana High School, writing standards based curriculum for theater across all grade levels for the district. She worked closely with U.C., Irvine’s humanities program Humanities Out There, which focuses on developing reading and writing skills in secondary and elementary students and was also a teacher sponsor in U.C., Irvine’s program Arts Bridge. Working with these two programs, Stephanie edited and published a play written by her theater students titled Life as Me. Stephanie taught acting at Fullerton College for eight years, and currently teaches writing and literature at Santa Ana College. Stephanie continues to write and produce productions for the stage and for film.
