Course Description:
Experience the excitement of summer sports camp—through words! This online course uses the spirit of teamwork and play as inspiration for creative writing and poetry. Through interactive games, writing prompts, and virtual campfire sharing, students develop their voices, explore sports-themed narratives, and craft playful, energetic poems.

Instructor Biography:
Sandra De Soto is an elementary educator with 30 years of teaching experience across multiple grade levels, including kindergarten through fourth grade, as well as specialized roles in reading instruction. She holds a Master of Science in Reading Education and a Reading Specialist Instruction Credential from California State University, Fullerton, along with a Bachelor of Science in Child Development and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Named Teacher of the Year for Tustin Unified School District in 2007, Sandra has taught in diverse settings, including GATE magnet and Title I schools, and has also served as an instructor for the University of California, Irvine’s Summer Writing Program.

- Develop narrative, descriptive, and poetic writing skills
- Practice peer feedback and supportive sharing in a virtual setting
- Build confidence in expressing ideas through words
- Explore sports literature, poetry, and famous sports moments for inspiration
- Foster a sense of virtual community and creativity
