Course Description:
Do you have a story to tell, a skill to teach, or a world to build? Behind every viral video is a great script. In the YouTube Scriptwriting Academy, you can transform your love for digital media into a powerful literacy skill. Let’s go behind the scenes to learn the art of scriptwriting and move from being just a passive viewer of content into a creative powerhouse!
Writers will explore the art of the "hook," develop unique on-camera personas, and learn how to structure engaging digital narratives. Whether you want to write gaming walkthroughs, science experiments, or cinematic vlogs, this course provides the blueprint for digital storytelling. Join us and learn how to write the videos that everyone will want to watch!

Instructor Biography:
Mickie Hazlewood has enjoyed working in education for over 25 years. She has master's degrees in both Educational Technology and Advanced Teaching. In 2023, Ms. Hazlewood was bestowed the honor of District Teacher of the Year in the Paramount Unified School District. She is GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) certified. She has taught most grade levels between kindergarten and eighth grade, but currently loves her work in reading intervention. When teaching students of any age, she finds that everyone connects to stories. Stories are a vital part of our human experience.

- Find your unique voice.
- Learn how to grab the audience’s attention in the first few seconds with a powerful hook.
- Transition from unorganized ”rambling” to more “punchy” structured storytelling.
- Understand the relationship between audio and visuals through storyboarding and two-column script formatting.
- Build confidence through "table reads" and constructive peer feedback sessions.
