8 class sessions, 1.5 hours per class (12 hours of instruction)

Course Description:
Prepare your young writer for the exciting world of literary exploration with our specially designed Literary Essay Writing Class! In this course, students will embark on a journey to develop the foundational skills needed for successful literary analysis, setting a strong groundwork for their 4th grade studies. Through engaging readings, interactive discussions, hands-on writing exercises, and peer collaboration, students will learn how to examine characters, settings, and themes in the books they read. They will practice organizing their thoughts into well-structured essays, expressing their ideas clearly and effectively. By the end of the course, your child will be equipped with the tools to approach literature thoughtfully and communicate their insights through writing. Instructor Biography:
Mrs. Erin Holewinski earned her Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with a Cross-Cultural, Language and Academic Development (CLAD) certification from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She also acquired a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration from Concordia University. For 21 years, Mrs. Holewinski has taught 2nd-5th grades in the Tustin Unified School District and has also served as a Mentor Teacher for the Cotsen for the Art of Teaching Foundation. Mrs. Holewinski was chosen to represent her school at the district level as their 2006 Teacher of the Year. She is GATE certified and was a demonstration teacher for TUSD’s GATE Summer Scholars teacher training for several years. Due to her extensive experience with Cognitively Guided Instruction, Reading & Writing Workshop, and EdTech applications, Mrs. Holewinski has led various workshops and demonstration lessons for teachers across Tustin Unified School District.
When not in the classroom, Mrs. Holewinski enjoys reading, traveling, attending musical performances, visiting Disney parks, and spending time with her family and friends.
