Exploring Animal Worlds: Informative Writing, Grades 2-3

Course Description:
Welcome to "Exploring Animal Worlds,” an exciting online writing course through the UCI Young Writers Program. In this session, second and third grade scholars will embark on a journey to discover and write about fascinating creatures that inhabit our planet. Through engaging lessons and collaborative writing activities, students will develop essential skills in informative writing while learning about a variety of animals, including those from the arctic, rainforest, and ocean habitats.

Instructor Biography:
Alicia Piantanida is an educator with a strong background and passion for teaching literacy and writing to young learners. She has taught 1st grade, 3rd grade, and K-6 Reading Intervention. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Child & Adolescent Development from California State University, Fullerton and a Master of Arts in Teaching and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from University of California, Irvine. Alicia is excited to work with 2nd and 3rd grade students this session to help students develop their writing skills and a life-long passion for writing.

- Practice editing and revising skills to improve writing quality
