Instructor Biography:
Leah Silberman is a multiple-subject credentialed teacher. She has taught grades 1st through 5th for 25 years in the Irvine Unified and Tustin Unified School Districts. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from UC Santa Barbara and a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia. She has taught for the UCI Writing Project Summer Youth Program for the last two years.

Course Objectives

- Use vivid verbs to make our writing come alive
- Incorporate figurative language to enhance our stories
- Utilize graphic organizers to plan our writing
- Write engaging dialogue to bring our characters to life
- Add descriptive adjectives and adverbs to enrich our narratives
