Imaginative Narrative: Writing into the Weird
8 class sessions over 4 weeks, 1.5 hours per class (12 hours of instruction)

Tuesdays/Thursdays, 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. PST
Course Description:
In this Imaginative Narrative course, students will have the opportunity to write weird, or out-of-the-box stories. Weird writing let's students find the fun in the writing process. First, they will engage in quick-writes each session to share and get positive feedback. They will also create an imaginative narrative using foundational story elements, like characters and plot, but they will also use literary devices to stir up their creativity. Students will make a dynamic slide presentation, adding flare to their final draft.
Instructor Biography:
Ms. Tatro has taught 3rd to 5th grades for over 20 years in Paramount and Long Beach Unified School Districts. She received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology and K-8 Multiple subject credential from Cal State Long Beach and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University, Irvine. She is a Writing Project alumni, received a Teacher of the Year Award in 2021, and was a Technology Spotlight Teacher in 2022. She is passionate about helping writers of all ages find their unique voices
