Course Description:
In this Creative Writing course, students will have the opportunity to unleash their most expressive selves through poetry. Students will read a mixture of traditional and modern poets, learn about the ingredients of a poem, and write their own poems. Poetry is where students can play with their words and push the boundaries of language and form. By the end of the session, they will create a series of poems to be presented in a digital chapbook.
Instructor Biography:
Ms. Tatro has taught 3rd to 5th grades for over 20 years in Paramount and Long Beach Unified School Districts. She received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology and K-8 Multiple subject credential from Cal State Long Beach and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University, Irvine. She is a Writing Project alumni, received a Teacher of the Year Award in 2021, and was a Technology Spotlight Teacher in 2022. She is passionate about helping writers of all ages find their unique voices.
