Monday - Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. PST
No class July 4
Course Description:
Every child has a story, but they might not have the proper tools to tell them. This class will give students an opportunity to express who they are and how they see the world through writing. In this four-week writing class, students will explore storytelling in a fun and meaningful way by analyzing what makes a good story through mentor texts and short video clips. Students will make use of a variety of media resources, photographs, and poetry to generate ideas. Students will also learn to incorporate sensory details into their stories as they see, wonder, and think about the world around them through guided virtual tours of sites that provide inspiration. These virtual field trips will not only inspire students to write new stories, but also help them to go back to revise and expand on early drafts. Students will share their writing with their classmates and learn how to give a glow (compliment) and a grow (suggestion) as they work together to See, Wonder, and Think about writing!
