UCI Writing Project - Summer Institute 2024
The centerpiece of the UCI Writing Project is our Summer Institute. It is an invigorating four-week seminar for teachers (pre-k through university). This year teachers will focus on exploring new horizons in writing. The voyage of each individual fellow in our program can take many forms, such as discovering new worlds of writing strategies, going on a journey to locate new life in the galaxy of your writing curriculum, joining an odyssey with teachers who problem solve together, or rocketing toward social justice in writing instruction. During our 2024 expeditions, we’ll work together to avoid perils and black holes, such as lack of motivation, lack of accessibility, red-tape, and worksheets. The Summer Institute will model and provide options for promoting literacy in both digital and in-person contexts. The Institute will empower and excite participants in thinking deeply about their practices as they enhance their own abilities as writers and develop as leaders in the field.
